LIFE IS TOUGH AND THEN WE DIE

MERLE PARNELL

It is always a thrill for me to have people respond to the work God has done in my life. Thank you so much for reading my testimony, "Just Be My Child." Also thank you so much for taking the time to write to me and request prayer. Your life is tough right now. I could tell from your written words. My father used to tell me when I had problems, “Honey, life is tough and then we die.” Sounds harsh but oh so true! I have spent 66 years on this earth trying to find my way through and it has been tough at times and soon I know that I will die. The wonderful part is that we do not have to face a moment, hour, day, week, month, or years alone.

The Lord Jesus Christ has won us back to God the Father by his marvelous work that the Father sent him to do.

He left all the riches in glory to come here on earth to live a sinless perfect life and to die in our place to pay the penalty for our sins. When He returned to heaven, he sent back to earth the Holy Spirit to be our guide and comforter until we leave this earth.

All this was accomplished because of His great love for us. It is offered to us freely but we do have to believe and place our trust him and that work. This is the prayer of confession, prayed in faith which leads us to salvation:

"Lord Jesus I confess that I am a sinner, I know that I can do nothing to earn my way to heaven.

I realize that you died in my place. I ask you to forgive me of my sins and I place my trust in you.

I ask that you take control of my life. I want to live for you. I thank you for saving me.”

If you pray those words, believing and trusting by faith, God will hear and save you. He then seals you with his Holy Spirit as the down payment for that which is ours now and when we die and pass on into eternity.

"I will never leave nor forsake you.” Those words are our promise that once we place our faith in Him, he will be with us to comfort, guide, and lead us. Then the peace that passes all understanding comes and floods you within. The peace is because you are no longer in rebellion to God. We are all like the prodigal son who comes home to the father. The father was lovingly waiting for the son to come back to him. If you do not know that story, write me back and I will send you the teaching and explanation of the parable.

You may have already committed your life to God in the above way but have never been discipled in just what you now have in Christ. His word is what will strengthen you in your daily life. It is fuel for our soul.

I teach a course in “Making the Truth a Reality” which helps people to understand the abundant life Jesus came to give all of us who believe and trust in him. This was started to help people in their Christian walk. I look at our life here on earth as a “boot camp” which prepares us for eternity.

I can tell you from personal experience that God desires a personal relationship with you. He also places people in our lives to help us understand how to move into that close relationship with him. If you desire further contact, I welcome the opportunity to help you in your spiritual walk in any way I can.

Blessings to you,
